Sokoto Police Rescue Kidnap Victims, Arrest 36 Suspects

On Thursday, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, the Commissioner of Police for Sokoto, announced the arrest of 36 suspects and the rescue of eight kidnap victims during a press briefing at the Sokoto Police Command headquarters. The operations took place in several local government areas, including Tangaza, Wamakko, Tureta, Bodinga, Rabah, and Binji.

The police recovered 689 rustled domestic animals and engaged in gun battles with armed bandits, resulting in the safe recovery of the victims. The command also arrested several suspects involved in various criminal activities, including three alleged members of the Lakurawa group, two suspects linked to kidnapping, and four cattle rustlers.

Additionally, the police dismantled a motorcycle theft syndicate, recovering 14 stolen motorcycles and arresting 23 suspects. The police also impounded 105 vehicles operating without number plates as part of ongoing traffic enforcement efforts.
