Katsina Analyst Arrested for Alleging Government Sponsorship

Usman Kurfi, a security analyst, was arrested by the Katsina State Police Command following allegations he made during a television interview, where he accused the Katsina State Government of sponsoring banditry. The police confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating it was based on a formal complaint submitted to the Commission on Internal Security and Home Affairs by Nasir Mu Azu.

According to police spokesperson Abubakar Sadiq, the allegations stemmed from Kurfi's claims regarding the government's involvement in banditry and participation in pilgrimages. The Katsina State Government has previously denied such allegations.

Following the receipt of the complaint, the police conducted a preliminary investigation, which led to Kurfi's arrest. Although specific charges against him were not disclosed, the police indicated that the matter would be transferred to court for further legal proceedings.

Efforts to obtain comments from Kurfi's legal representatives were unsuccessful at the time of the report.
