Delta Police Arrest Three for Torturing Youth in Emevor

The Delta State Police Command arrested and arraigned three suspects in connection with the torture of a youth in Emevor, as shown in a viral video that emerged on social media. The incident, which occurred on July 5, 2026, at 8:15 AM, involved the victim being unlawfully apprehended and subjected to severe physical assault, humiliation, and threats of death.

The suspects, identified as Lucki Okeremu (48), chairman of the Emevor community, Okiemut Oyibo (46), and Karo Akamakusi (45), were charged with conspiracy to commit felony assault, occasioning harm, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, contrary to sections 516, 355, 249(e), and 86 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21 Volume Law Delta State Nigeria 2006. The arrest followed a directive from Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi, who expressed concern over the disturbing video.

The police reiterated the importance of community leaders and vigilante groups in maintaining security while warning against taking the law into their own hands.
