Police Arrest Five Cultists, Seize Weapons in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command, through its Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), arrested five suspected cultists in the Apapa area of Lagos. The operation, led by Chiemeli Ezeobi, was based on credible intelligence and resulted in the apprehension of Abubakar Ayomid (25), Tanko Yusuf (23), Ahm Abibu (24), Abubakar Shafi (23), and Fatai Moh (25).

These suspects are alleged members of the Aiy confraternity. Following their arrest, police conducted a search of their hideout, recovering a battle axe, two knives, a hammer, and substances believed to be Indian hemp, along with items suspected to be criminal charms.

Lagos State Police Commissioner Tijani Fatai warned that cultists and other criminal elements must renounce their activities or face the full weight of the law. He assured residents that the police would continue to conduct intelligence-led operations to combat cultism and violent crime in the state.
