Lagos Police Arrest Robbery and Cult Gang Members

The Lagos State Police Command reported significant breakthroughs in its crackdown on armed robbery and cultism, as disclosed by Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani on Tuesday. The operation, coordinated by the command's office, resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of sophisticated weapons.

A 20-year-old suspect linked to a robbery case was apprehended, and a Beretta pistol was recovered. The suspect confessed to participating in a three-man robbery operation.

On June 22, three suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery attack that left a victim with gunshot injuries, with a local-made pistol and four cartridges recovered. Additionally, intelligence reports led to the arrest of three suspects in the Ayetoro and Ijanikin areas, where two double-barrel guns and a single-barrel gun were seized.

Further patrols along Ilupeju resulted in the arrest of two suspects with firearms. The police also arrested four cult members linked to the Eiye confraternity, recovering firearms and knives.

The command reiterated its commitment to intensifying security operations to ensure public safety.
