Man Arrested for N40m Job Scam in Kano

Ali Mohammed, known as Faragai, was arrested by the Zone One Police Headquarters in Kano for allegedly defrauding job seekers of more than N40 million. The arrest occurred following complaints that he collected money from individuals under the pretense of securing government jobs.

According to a statement from the Zone One Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Hussaini, preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed falsely claimed to be a special assistant to the Kano State Universal Basic Education Board, which he used to gain the trust of prospective job seekers. Over ten victims have come forward, and it was discovered that he collected over N40 million from them.

Mohammed confessed to defrauding more than twenty individuals and admitted to producing fake appointment letters as evidence of their supposed jobs. Some of these forged letters have been recovered as exhibits.

The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court after the investigation concludes. The police have warned the public against individuals demanding money for government job placements.
