Edo Police Arrest Passenger with 36 Live Cartridges

On May 23, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM, the Edo State Police Command conducted a routine stop and search operation at Guobadia Junction along the Benin-Auchi Road. During this operation, officers intercepted a minibus carrying seven passengers.

Upon noticing the police, three male passengers abandoned their belongings and attempted to flee the scene. Police officers promptly chased and successfully apprehended one of the fleeing suspects, identified as Richard Gabriel, a 36-year-old from Ovia South West Local Government Area in Edo State.

A search of Gabriel's bag revealed 36 live cartridges concealed within. The Commissioner of Police for Edo State, Agbonika, commended the officers for their vigilance and commitment to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
