Delta Police Arrest Armed Robber, Seize AK-47 in Asaba
The Delta State Police Command arrested a 26-year-old suspected armed robber named Sunday Nimel in Asaba on October 7, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation. The operation, which took place at approximately 22:30 hours, was conducted by the CP Special Assignment Team in collaboration with local vigilantes.
Nimel is believed to be a member of an armed robbery syndicate responsible for multiple residential armed robbery incidents in Asaba and surrounding areas. During interrogation, he provided information that led police operatives to a hideout near Okpanam City Gate, where they recovered one AK-47 rifle, three rounds of live ammunition, and two locally made cut-to-size guns.
The spokesman for the command, Bright Edafe, confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
