Anambra Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Emmanuel Mark

The Anambra State Police Command arrested 25-year-old Emmanuel Chekwube Mark for alleged armed robbery and kidnapping on August 27, 2026. Mark is reportedly a member of a four-man syndicate operating around the Ifite Awka axis of Awka South Local Government Area.

The arrest was made by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following intelligence-led operations. Recovered items included one locally fabricated pistol, two pump-action guns, and one military-pattern face cap.

Preliminary investigations revealed Mark's involvement in the kidnapping of a victim on July 22, 2026, who was reportedly dispossessed of valuables and murdered. The gang allegedly used a tricycle to block victims, overpower them at gunpoint, and take them to their hideout in Umoji, Ebenebe, where they were tortured.

Commissioner of Police Nnanna Ama has ordered a comprehensive investigation to apprehend the fleeing accomplices and emphasized the command's commitment to combating violent crime in the state.
