Police Arrest Suspected Criminal Syndicate Member in Ibadan

On August 15, 2026, at approximately 2:45 am, the Oyo State Police Command arrested Arowolo Ademola Adeyemo, known as Demmy, in the Soka area of Ibadan. He is suspected of being part of a criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery, land grabbing, and other violent crimes.

The arrest was made following credible intelligence received by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), which indicated that members of the syndicate were gathered at the location. During interrogation, Adeyemo allegedly confessed to his involvement in these criminal activities.

The police recovered a fabricated English pistol, a long single-barrel gun, nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition, and nine live cartridges during the operation. The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large.

Investigations are ongoing, and Adeyemo will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
