Police Arrest Two Togo Nationals for Kidnapping Plot

The Kwara State Police Command arrested two foreign nationals, Yakubu Ismaila and Hadiza Kosia, from the Republic of Togo, following reports of a kidnapping threat in Baruten Local Government Area. An anonymous caller demanded a ransom of ₦22,000,000 to prevent the abduction of Musa Ismaila, who was also threatened with murder if the demands were not met.

Upon receiving the report, the police conducted an immediate intelligence-led operation, which involved collaboration with the Intelligence Response Team. This operation successfully tracked and arrested the suspects, who were found to be directly linked to a criminal conspiracy.

During preliminary investigations, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping and extortion plot, and a mobile phone used to make threatening calls was recovered. The Commissioner of Police for Kwara State, CP Ojo Adekimi, commended the prompt response of the police and reaffirmed their commitment to combating criminal elements in the state.
