Police Arrest Two for Phone Scam in Adamawa State

The Adamawa State Police Command arrested two suspects, Audu Abubakar and Nasiru Hassan, who are alleged to be involved in a phone scam that defrauded customers by selling non-functional replica phones. The arrests occurred in the Yola North Local Government Area, specifically on Bauchi Street, after victims reported purchasing these dummy phones.

The police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroj, stated that the suspects were apprehended following these complaints. Items recovered from the suspects included several dummy phones, which served as evidence in the case.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The police also urged the public to remain vigilant when purchasing phones and to patronize accredited dealers, advising them to test devices thoroughly and demand receipts upon making payments.
