Nigeria Police Train 55 Officers in Counter-Terrorism

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) announced that over 140 operatives from its Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) have received British-supported specialized training recently, with the latest group of 55 officers completing a two-week intensive program in Abuja. The training, organized in partnership with the British High Commission, focused on intelligence analysis, tactical operational planning, and practical room clearance techniques to enhance counter-terrorism operations.

During the graduation ceremony, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu, represented by Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Akoh Gabriel, emphasized the partnership's role in strengthening the NPF's operational readiness against terrorism and emerging security threats. The training included 30 CTU operatives trained in Côte d’Ivoire and 110 personnel trained locally.

Colonel Richard Hoyobe, Deputy Head of the British Defence Staff West Africa, attended the ceremony, which concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants, officially certifying them as Intelligence Analysts and Tactical Close Quarter Combatants.
