Bandits Attack Gidan Asarki, Injure Resident and Steal Cattle

The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed an armed bandit attack on Gidan Asarki, a community near Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. The attack took place around 9 pm on Sunday, resulting in one resident being shot in the leg and the rustling of 28 cattle.
Police spokesperson Ahmed Rufai reported that the attackers shot a person during the raid and escaped with the cattle. Residents expressed fear as the assailants threatened to bring out students living in the area, although many were away due to the university holiday.
A resident named Hussaini stated that the victim survived and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Another resident, Jameel Muhammad, confirmed the cattle theft, stating that more than 20 cows were taken.
The police reported the number of stolen cattle as 28. There were no confirmed reports of deaths or abductions, raising concerns about the security of communities surrounding the university, particularly those vulnerable to such attacks.
