Police Bust Fake Soft Drinks Factory in Anambra, Arrest Suspects Linked to Illegal Operation

Police in Anambra dismantled a fake soft drinks factory in Okpoko, Ogbaru LGA, arresting suspects linked to the illegal operation. The raid by the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu followed an intelligence report, leading to the discovery of a facility producing unapproved and unwholesome drinks branded as Iyi Obeleagu.

The operation aimed to protect public health as the fake products posed serious risks. Anambra State has faced challenges with counterfeit food and beverage production, prompting regulatory enforcement actions.

The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, directed thorough investigations to identify collaborators and warned against endangering consumers' lives with fake consumables.
