Police Rescue 61-Year-Old Woman from Kidnappers in Ondo

On June 23, 2026, armed men abducted 61-year-old Mr. Modup Oladel from his residence in Owo, Ondo State, stealing a Toyota Matrix vehicle with registration number WWW 434 AG.

The Ondo State Police Command received a distress call regarding the incident and promptly mobilized a team to pursue the assailants. The police engaged in a gun battle with the suspects on the outskirts of Ojana Phase 3, successfully rescuing the victim and recovering the stolen vehicle.

During the exchange of gunfire, the police utilized superior tactics, overwhelming the armed men, who subsequently fled into the surrounding bush, believed to have sustained gunshot injuries. The police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the recovery of evidence at the scene, including two spent cartridges and a sandal believed to belong to one of the fleeing suspects.

The case has been transferred to the appropriate investigative unit for further action.
