Police and JAMB Bust Examination Fraud Syndicate in Delta

The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), uncovered and disrupted a sophisticated examination fraud syndicate in Delta State during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This operation was initiated following credible intelligence that indicated attempts by criminal elements to compromise the integrity of the examination using technology to assist in fraudulent activities.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the preliminary investigation revealed unauthorized remote access to the examination system. The police conducted a coordinated operation based on digital forensics, leading to the arrest of three suspects directly linked to the criminal activities.

These suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with further inquiries into the network. As a result of the investigation, JAMB withdrew results from affected examination centers pending the conclusion of the inquiry and assured candidates that they would not lose the opportunity to sit for the examination, with fresh arrangements to be made.
