Police Kill Three Suspected Bandits in Gun Duel

On June 12, 2026, police engaged in a gun duel with suspected bandits along Vaas Chito Road in Ukum Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of three suspects. The operation was part of a proactive patrol led by DSP Udem Edet, aimed at tackling armed robbery, banditry, kidnapping, and cultism.

The police recovered an AK-47 rifle, two locally fabricated guns, and several rounds of live ammunition during the operation, which was conducted between June 6 and June 12. Additionally, a motorcycle was found at the scene, and the police are tracking suspects who escaped with gunshot wounds.

In a separate operation, the police arrested suspects linked to the notorious Red Skin cult group and recovered a locally fabricated revolver and ammunition in Gyemu Settlement, Guma Local Government Area. Another operation in Gboko Local Government Area led to the arrest of an alleged leader of an armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate, along with the recovery of firearms and charms.
