Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect in Uyo, A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom Police Command apprehended an armed robbery suspect in Uyo during a stop-and-search operation on June 27 at approximately 10:30 PM. The operation was initiated following a distress call from residents of Ikot Okubo reporting armed robbery activities.

DSP Timfon John, the police spokesperson, confirmed that upon sighting the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended. A medium-sized local fabric firearm was recovered from the suspect.

The police have launched a manhunt for other members of the criminal gang who escaped the scene. DSP John stated that thorough investigations will be conducted to establish the suspect's level of involvement in the alleged criminal activities and to identify and dismantle the criminal network.

The command continues to demonstrate its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state and urges the public to support the police with credible information to enhance crime-fighting efforts.
