Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber

On June 27, 2026, at 10:30 PM, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, led by Public Relations Officer Timfon John, arrested a suspect named Idiong Udoeyen in Uyo following a distress call from residents of Ikot Okubo Village. The police received reports of armed robbery activities in the area and immediately mobilized to conduct a stop-and-search operation along Mayflow Axis on Oron Road.

Collaborating with local youth vigilantes, the police cordoned off the neighborhood, which led to the successful arrest of Udoeyen. During the operation, a medium-sized local fabric firearm was recovered from his possession.

It was noted that other gang members escaped upon sighting the police, prompting a manhunt for their apprehension. Udoeyen remains in police custody as investigations continue to determine his level of involvement in the alleged criminal activities.
