Police Arrest Two Suspects for Theft at Accident Scene

On May 10, 2026, at approximately 22:00 hours, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command apprehended two suspects involved in vandalism and theft at an accident scene along the Calabar-Itu highway. The operation was based on credible intelligence received regarding criminal activities at the site of a truck accident.

The first suspect, Adamu Hamza, 19, a native of Maiduguri, Borno State, was found in possession of four stolen truck tires. The second suspect, Anthony Jame, was allegedly using a tricycle to convey stolen items from the scene.

DSP Timfon John, the spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the arrests and noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices involved in the criminal act. CP Baba Moham Azar warned criminals to desist from looting at accident scenes and reiterated the command's commitment to enhancing surveillance and intelligence-driven policing to safeguard lives and property in the state.
