Oyo Authorities Deny Release of Kidnap Victims by Igboho

The Oyo State Police Command and local government officials have denied reports claiming the release of kidnap victims after activist Sundai Igboho issued a two-hour ultimatum to suspected kidnappers in the Fulani community. Jacob Ogundiran, the chairman of Oorelop local government, labeled the claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard unverified information.

He assured that security agencies at both state and local levels are intensifying efforts to rescue the victims safely. The police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, also refuted the claims, stating that the victims remain in captivity and that any efforts by Igboho have not resulted in their release.

The kidnappings occurred during a midnight attack, with the kidnappers initially demanding a ransom of N300 million, later reduced to N150 million. Igboho had warned the suspects of potential action if the victims were not released, following a viral video where he addressed community leaders expressing anger over the kidnappings.
