Police Raid Cultist Hideout in Anambra, Recover Weapons

On June 20, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the IGP Violent Crime Response Unit, executed a raid on a notorious cultist hideout located along Nwaziki Street in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area. The operation, led by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 magazines and 60 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, along with other related items.

Despite the successful recovery of these items, no suspects were apprehended at the scene as they fled upon the police's arrival. The police have initiated an investigation to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects and to establish ownership of the recovered items.

CP Ikioy Orutugu commended the proactive intelligence-led efforts of the police, reaffirming the command's commitment to sustained aggressive raids against criminal elements in the state.
