Nine Bodies Recovered in Niger State Bandit Attack

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of nine bodies on the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State. The victims are suspected to have been killed by bandits while traveling.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, reported that a team of police and military personnel was dispatched to evacuate the bodies after receiving information on Tuesday. He stated that clearance operations have been intensified to secure the area from further security threats.

This incident follows the recent rescue of 308 individuals abducted in separate attacks across Kwara and Niger states. Among those rescued, 163 were taken from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, and 145 were kidnapped in a separate incident in Niger State.

The victims were rescued from the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa Local Government Area during a coordinated operation involving the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.
