Nigerian Army Rescues Nine Kidnapped Victims in Niger

Troops of the 18 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued nine kidnapped victims and foiled terrorist attacks in Niger State during operations in Mariga and Rijau Local Government Areas. On August 12, troops from the Nigerian Army Training Centre Admin Battalion, deployed at Kotonkoro, rescued the victims and handed them over to local government representatives for documentation and reunification with their families.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops cleared a terrorist ambush in the Warari area of Rijau LGA, recovering seven motorcycles, one camel, 47 cattle, and 18 sheep believed to have been rustled. Additionally, on August 10, troops from the Brigade’s Quick Response Force, alongside the 311 Artillery Regiment and Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Battalion X, thwarted a terrorist attack near Inana Village.

The troops intercepted terrorists attempting to infiltrate communities, forcing them to flee and abandoning equipment. The operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and the destruction of six motorcycles.

The commander of the 18 Brigade praised the troops for their professionalism and urged them to maintain operational momentum.
