Police Recover Firearms and Cult Caps in Anambra

On August 13, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command's Violent Crime Response Unit recovered two locally fabricated pistols and three caps inscribed with the Vikings Confraternity from an abandoned motorcycle in Awka North Local Government Area. The recovery occurred during a routine patrol along the Isuaniocha Bridge when officers spotted two young men on a black Sanyang motorcycle without a registration number.

Upon noticing the police, the suspects made a reckless turn, prompting a chase. They fell from the motorcycle, abandoning it along with two slippers and a bag before fleeing into a nearby bush.

A search of the bag led to the discovery of the firearms and cult caps. SP Tochukwu Ikenga stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and identify their affiliations.

CP Nnanna Oji Ama has directed intensified efforts to capture the suspects and emphasized the command's commitment to proactive policing to ensure public safety.
