Police Arrest Three Cultists, Recover Firearm in Lagos

Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos, arrested three suspected cultists in Ikorodu and recovered a locally fabricated, cut-to-size double-barrel pistol on September 3, 2026. The suspects were identified as Michael Badejo, aka Senior, 33; Fatai Oladipupo, aka Labalaba, 36; and Kamarudeen Salau, aka Otunba, 46.

The arrests followed credible intelligence regarding the suspects' activities terrorizing residents. The operation began with surveillance by the Zonal Quick Intervention Squad, leading to Badejo's arrest in Ogun State, which facilitated the capture of Oladipupo and Salau in Ikorodu.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Oladipupo, who possessed the firearm, had contacted Badejo for its repair, but Badejo introduced him to Salau, who allegedly intended to purchase the weapon. Oladipupo claimed the pistol was given to him by a friend who is currently at large and admitted to being a member of the Eiye confraternity.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, commended the operation and emphasized the importance of removing illegal firearms to ensure public safety.
