Kwara Police Recover Stolen Vehicle Using Tracking Tech

On April 27, 2026, at 14:00 hours, the Kwara State Police Command reported the recovery of a Toyota Matrix vehicle that had been stolen earlier that day at 11:00 hours from a parking space at Mandate Market in Ilorin. The recovery was facilitated by the deployment of modern police technology, specifically a vehicle tracking and immobilization system linked to the vehicle's security device, which enabled real-time geolocation tracking and remote engine immobilization.

The vehicle was successfully traced and found abandoned along the Jebba Expressway. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspects attempted to alter the vehicle's registration number and origin plate number.

The Kwara State Police Command has committed to leveraging modern technology and intelligence-led policing to combat crime and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state. Further investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
