Police Rescue 75 Abducted Travellers in Kaduna State

The Kaduna State Police Command successfully rescued 75 travellers, comprising men, women, and children, who were abducted by armed men near Folwaya Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, when the victims, travelling in commercial buses, were kidnapped by gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles.

Following credible information from the Birnin Gwari branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, a police team was deployed to the location. Upon arrival, the police operatives forced the kidnappers to flee, leaving the victims unharmed.

Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad commended the NURTW for their timely information and praised the Area Commander and his team for their swift response. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to prevent future attacks, cautioning against self-help actions that could endanger lives.

Birnin Gwari has faced ongoing security challenges related to armed banditry and kidnappings.
