Edo Police Rescue Kidnapped Students, Neutralize Suspect

On July 14, 2026, the Edo State Police Command successfully rescued three students from Ambrose Alli University who had been kidnapped on July 12 in the Esan West Local Government Area. The students, Prais Obagbalu (18), Favour Okoroj (21), and Balogun Precious (19), were abducted during an attack near their hostel.

Peter Ekpen Adolor, a 24-year-old student, was shot during the incident and later confirmed dead at the hospital. Following a distress report, the police, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Edo State Security Corps, and local hunters, launched a tactical rescue operation.

The operation led to a fierce gun battle in Erah Forest, resulting in the neutralization of one suspect and the recovery of three AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and other items. The rescued students were unharmed and received medical attention.

The police commended the bravery of all personnel involved in the operation.
