Thugs Block Peter Obi's Convoy in Benue State Incident

On Tuesday, the convoy of Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), was blocked by suspected thugs along the Gboko-Makurdi Expressway in Makurdi, Benue State. This incident occurred shortly after Obi arrived in the state capital while en route to Yelwata to visit communities impacted by a deadly attack on June 13, 2025.

The Benue State Police Command confirmed that officers were providing security for Obi's movement at the time of the blockade. DSP Peter Orchia Aondongu, the Police Public Relations Officer in Benue, stated that the police are aware of the situation and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

However, the police did not disclose the identities of the youths involved in stopping the convoy. Aondongu assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
