Makinde Demands Investigation into Obi's Convoy Blockade

Engr. Seyi Makinde, a presidential candidate from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), has condemned the obstruction of Mr. Peter Obi's convoy during his visit to Benue State. Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Governor of Anambra State, was on his way to Yelwata to visit families affected by tragic killings when his convoy was blocked by suspected state-sponsored thugs.

This incident occurred shortly after Obi showed solidarity with Makinde at the inauguration of the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Office. Makinde's media aide, Anthony Ehilebo, emphasized that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees citizens the right to move freely and assemble without prior permission.

He criticized the Benue State Government's statement regarding Obi's visit and called for an immediate investigation by the Nigerian Police to hold the culprits accountable, asserting that such actions have no place in a constitutional democracy. Makinde reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful electoral process despite these challenges.
