Benjamin Hundeyin to Leave Nigeria Police Spokesman Role

Benjamin Hundeyin will vacate his role as the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force today, March 6, 2026, concluding a five-month tenure. Sources from the police headquarters indicate that a senior police officer has already been identified as his replacement, although the official announcement has not been made at press time.

Hundeyin has been preparing to hand over his responsibilities since 8 PM on Thursday. He was appointed as the spokesperson in September 2025, succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police.

During his time, Hundeyin gained national attention for his proactive media engagement and significantly improved the police's presence on digital platforms, enhancing transparency and communication with citizens. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Lagos State University and a Master's degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
