AEO Reports on Osun 2026 Election Integrity Measures

The Athena Election Observatory (AEO) released a preliminary assessment of the Osun State governorship election, emphasizing the importance of robust political competition and technological advancements in ensuring electoral integrity. The AEO noted that the rivalry between major political parties raised logistical and structural barriers against electoral manipulation.

Voter registration increased from 1,952,387 in 2022 to 2,339,544 in 2026, a rise of 19.8%. Accredited voters grew from 827,218 to 1,010,684, while total votes cast rose from 823,124 to 1,005,800.

The accreditation rate remained stable at 43.20%. Governor Adeleke of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) increased his vote count from 403,371 in 2022 to 511,067 in 2026, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised its count from 375,027 to 444,815.

The declared margin widened from 28,344 votes in 2022 to 66,252 votes in 2026. The AEO acknowledged improvements in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) technological deployments but noted the need for further upgrades and transparency.
