Senior Cleric Assassinated in Church Attack in Abuja

Evang. Onaduja Oluwafemi Gbeminiyi, a 64-year-old senior cleric of the Celestial Church of Christ, Castle of Mercy Parish in Waru District, was attacked by unidentified hoodlums during a mercy service.

The assailants reportedly targeted Gbeminiyi's apartment within the church premises, dragging him out and engaging in a struggle. Despite his resistance, he was overpowered and severely beaten, crying out for help, but assistance did not arrive in time.

Neighbors later rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later. The incident has been reported to the FCT Police Command, which has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances of his death and identify the attackers.

The church's assistant shepherd was also detained for questioning. Gbeminiyi was buried at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja the following day, and a service of songs was held in his memory.
