POWA Commemorates 2026 International Widows Day in Bauchi

The Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) marked the 2026 International Widows Day in Bauchi, pledging to renew support for women who have lost their husbands in the line of duty. The event's theme focused on justice, dignity, and economic empowerment for police widows.

Chairperson of POWA Bauchi State Chapter, Hajiya Fatima Sani Omolori Aliyu, reaffirmed the association's commitment to empowering police widows through skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training, enabling them to become self-reliant and productive members of society. The event featured a presentation of empowerment packages, including items such as POS machines, bags of rice, sugar, and cartons of vegetable oil, aimed at providing succor and showing appreciation for the sacrifices made by their late husbands.

Mr. Loi Maje Bala expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries.

The occasion included goodwill messages from representatives of sponsors, including CP Mr. Sani Omolori Aliyu and DCP Musa Bulu, who commended POWA and assured continued partnership to support the welfare of officers' families.
