POWA Aids Widows in Jigawa for International Widows’ Day

On Wednesday, during a humanitarian outreach event organized by the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in Jigawa State, financial assistance and food items were provided to widows to commemorate International Widows’ Day 2026. The initiative, directed by the national president of POWA, Mr.

Mutiat Olufunmilola Disu, aimed to promote social welfare among vulnerable members of the police community. Hajiya Fatimah Ibrahim, the chairperson of POWA Jigawa State, emphasized the necessity of supporting widows and recognizing their resilience amid socio-economic challenges.

The event saw no fewer than 20 widows receiving relief materials, including spaghetti, groundnut oil, seasoning cubes, and cash support of N30,000 to help alleviate their daily needs. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance, describing it as timely and impactful.

POWA reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of widows and vulnerable groups within the police community and urged individuals and organizations to continue supporting such initiatives.
