POWA CARES Initiative Supports Police Families in Lagos

The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), under the leadership of its 23rd National President, Chief Mrs. Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, is redefining welfare for police families.

On April 29, 2026, during the POWA CARES Initiative Outreach in Lagos, a commitment was made to winners of the POWA CARES Ballot Draw. This promise culminated in an exclusive dinner hosted by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the winners, who also received N500,000 each for their families.

The event celebrated the association's commitment to police welfare. Since taking office on March 4, 2026, Chief Mrs.

Disu has focused on five policy priorities, including mental health support and economic empowerment, through the POWA CARES Initiative. This initiative aims to create sustainable support systems for police families rather than offering one-off interventions.

Prior to the dinner, over 1,000 beneficiaries received medical support, and 200 families were awarded ₦50,000 empowerment grants.
