Power Outage in Maitama Due to Substation Encroachment

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced a disruption in power supply to Maitama due to alleged unlawful encroachment on its C2 Maitama substation. The AEDC accused land grabbers and identified Chinedu Okoro, an Assistant Director at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), as being involved in the invasion.

This encroachment has reportedly led to the destruction of vital electrical cable networks, making it technically impossible to continue power distribution from the substation. The AEDC emphasized that the land legally belongs to them and called for a comprehensive investigation and appropriate legal action against those responsible.

The company expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to residents and assured that efforts to restore power supply would commence once the substation's security and damaged infrastructure are addressed.
