Nigeria to Host World Public Relations Forum in 2026

The Presidency of Nigeria has confirmed its support for the Global Alliance World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) set to take place from November 15 to 21, 2026, in Abuja. This initiative is in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, made this announcement during a meeting with the Planning Committee of WPRF Abuja 2026, led by NIPR President Dr Ike Neliaku. The forum, themed ‘Deepening Responsible Communications,’ is expected to attract approximately 3,000 delegates from 126 member countries.

Onanuga expressed the importance of Nigerians portraying a positive image of the country, addressing the negative narratives often shared internationally. The event will feature Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema as a keynote speaker and will honor President Bola Tinubu with a lifetime Award of Excellence in Reforms.

Dr Suleiman Haruna, Chairman of the Planning Committee, confirmed that preparations are underway, involving partnerships with media organizations and security agencies.
