Presidency Denies Gbajabiamila's Involvement in Scandal

The Presidency issued a statement on Thursday addressing allegations against Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, regarding his purported role in a forged appointment scandal. The statement, released by Special Adviser on Strategic Communication Bayo Onanuga, categorically denied any involvement by Gbajabiamila in the alleged scheme, which involved the creation of a fictitious agency led by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew.

The Presidency confirmed that there are no records of Gbajabiamila issuing any appointment letters for the non-existent agency. The controversy arose from Adeyemi's alleged activities in operating a fake organization known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, which reportedly held meetings with foreign diplomats to secure visas and documents.

The Nigerian Police Force is investigating the matter, having recovered forged appointment letters and other documents. The investigation revealed that Adeyemi operated multiple bank accounts linked to the fraudulent organization.

The Presidency reaffirmed Gbajabiamila's innocence and urged the public to avoid speculation as the matter is under judicial review.
