Showunmi Urges Restraint in Gbajabiamila Allegations

Otunba Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of the People Democratic Party in Ogun State, has advised against the media trial of Femi Gbajabiamila, who serves as the Chief of Staff to the President. This caution comes in light of allegations surrounding a purported presidential foreign intervention and a statement titled "Burden of the Chief of Staff." Showunmi emphasized the importance of allowing due process and the rule of law to take its course rather than rushing to judgment.

This reaction follows claims made by Adeniyi Adeyemi, who alleged that Gbajabiamila appointed him as Director General of a purported council, which was supposedly communicated through a letter issued by Gbajabiamila. Gbajabiamila has denied these allegations and is reportedly considering a defamation suit against Adeyemi for N10 billion, demanding a retraction and apology.

Showunmi urged Nigerians to exercise restraint and allow the courts to determine the matter, highlighting the need for fair judgment and the dangers of public opinion convicting individuals without due process.
