Tinubu Supports Nigerian Army Modernization and Welfare

President Bola Tinubu has expressed strong support for the modernization of the Nigerian Army and the welfare of its troops, recognizing the military as a critical pillar of Nigeria's security architecture. This commitment was reaffirmed during the 2026 NADCEL grand final held in Port Harcourt, where Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President.

A statement issued by Colonel Appolonia Anel, Director of Army Public Relations, noted that the government aims to enhance military capabilities to confront evolving security threats. Tinubu commended the success of the African Land Forces Forum, which serves as a strategic platform for military cooperation and innovation.

He paid tribute to fallen personnel and assured their families of continued government support. Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu emphasized the army's role in safeguarding national interests and the importance of collaboration among government institutions, military partners, and citizens.

The event featured military parades and demonstrations, showcasing indigenous military innovations and attracting former heads of state and senior defense officials.
