Tinubu Calls for Peaceful Osun Governorship Election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged for a peaceful and credible governorship election in Osun State, set for Saturday, August 15, 2026. He challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to utilize this election to showcase its preparedness for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

In terms of security, President Tinubu directed the Inspector-General of Police and heads of other security agencies to ensure adequate protection at polling units and to prevent any disruptions during the election process. He encouraged eligible voters to participate in large numbers, exercise their civic duties peacefully, and avoid actions that could undermine the election's integrity.

The election will feature 15 candidates, including incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, All Progressives Congress candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam.
