Tinubu Inaugurates Africa's First Renewable Energy College

On [date not specified], President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Africa’s first renewable energy college, the Barefoot Renewable Energy College (BARECKS), and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant in Kogi State. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu described the college as a world-class institution completed to international standards.

He emphasized that the college aims to close the gap in Africa’s energy transition by addressing the shortage of competent technical manpower. Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, qualifying them for global employment.

The President called for collaboration with development partners, the private sector, and research institutions to enhance research and training. He praised the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr.

Kingsley Udeh, and Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for their roles in the project. Governor Ododo stated that the college signifies Nigeria's commitment to sustainable development through human capital investment, while Dr.

Udeh highlighted its importance for job creation and building a knowledge-driven economy.
