Tinubu Launches Africa's First Renewable Energy College

On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned Africa’s first renewable energy college, the Barefoot Renewable Energy College (BARECKS), along with the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant in Kogi State. The college, completed to international standards, aims to address Nigeria's challenges in converting its abundant natural resources into energy and jobs.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President at the commissioning ceremony held at the Confluence University of Science and Technology. Tinubu highlighted that the college is modeled after successful vocational colleges in India and will produce skilled technicians and professionals in renewable energy technologies.

Graduates will receive internationally recognized certificates, enabling them to compete globally. The President expressed satisfaction with the project's timely completion, contrasting it with typical delays in similar initiatives.

He emphasized the college's role in bridging the gap in Africa's energy transition by training competent technical manpower.
