Tinubu Commits to Revive Refineries and CNG Initiatives

On Thursday, during a meeting at the State House in Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assured the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), led by Comrade Salimon Akanni Oladiti, that Nigeria's refineries would be restored, focusing on profitability and sustainable economic value. He defended the removal of fuel subsidies as essential for economic restructuring and announced that details on resource utilization would be published soon.

Tinubu stated that his administration is committed to resolving longstanding challenges in the oil sector and ensuring public assets benefit Nigerians. He also encouraged the expansion of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiatives, urging transport operators to lower fares for commuters.

Oladiti appealed for intervention regarding worker casualization in the oil and gas industry and for the revival of NPSC depots. Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, noted the growing partnership between the government and labor unions, emphasizing dialogue over confrontation.

NUPENG conferred the Grand Patron Award on President Tinubu during the visit.
