Tinubu Calls for Faith-Based Support Against Insecurity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged for increased collaboration with the Tijjaniyya Muslim community and other faith-based institutions to address insecurity and enhance peace efforts in Nigeria and the West African region. He made this call during a goodwill message delivered by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, at the Grand Maulud of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tijani in Kano.

President Tinubu highlighted the potential of religious organizations to prevent radicalization and support government initiatives against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. He encouraged religious leaders to extend their influence beyond the pulpit to promote peace education and community dialogue.

The President also referenced alarming statistics from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, indicating that 117.8 million people were forcibly displaced globally by the end of 2025, underscoring the need for religious leaders to address intolerance and grievances. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Government's commitment to peace and called on Muslims to renew their dedication to Islamic teachings.
