Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Religious Peace in Nigeria

On Saturday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed the Nigerian government's commitment to collaborating with religious leaders to foster peace and tolerance among Nigeria's diverse religious communities. This statement was made during an audience with Archbishop Paul R.

Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States at the Holy See, in Abuja. Tinubu highlighted the significance of interfaith dialogue in addressing the country's security challenges and acknowledged the Catholic Church's contributions to education and health.

He expressed appreciation for the long-standing relationship with the Catholic Church, particularly during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. Tinubu also assured Archbishop Gallagher that the government is focused on investing in youth to prevent exploitation by terrorists and reduce vulnerability to radicalization.

The meeting coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the Holy See, with Gallagher noting Nigeria's vibrant Catholic community and the importance of continued collaboration for peace.
