CSO Demands Closure of Presidential Foreign Intervention Council

The Civil Society Coalition for Truth and Justice has stated that the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) lacks a legal foundation and should be shut down. The coalition, led by Adeniyi Adeyemi, criticized the PFIPC, asserting that there is no official record of its existence or any formal appointments.

They noted that Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, confirmed that the PFIPC does not exist under the current administration. The coalition highlighted several gaps in claims made by Adeyemi, including the absence of a gazette, formal inauguration, and verifiable appointment letters.

They raised concerns about the PFIPC's budget allocation of N1 billion in the 2026 budget, calling for a full investigation into the matter. The coalition urged President Bola Tinubu to clarify the situation and called on the National Assembly to probe the agency's budget and activities, warning against any attempts to legitimize the PFIPC through backdoor means.
